Mazda 3 Mps The Wild Child

Thursday, June 21, 2007

Whilst Mazda UK released video footage of the 3 MPS at the Nurburgring, where Mark Ticehurst puts Mazda's 3 MPS hot hatch credentials to the test, a smaller potent version was tearing around the streets on different type of track.

mazdaspeed_wildchildThe video, which is showing on YouTube, was released by Mazda in the US at the launch of the MazdaSpeed3, the name given to the Mazda 3 MPS across the pond.

In the opening sequence, a crane is seen off-loading containers from a ship and as they're being stacked, you hear the revving of an engine, lights changing from amber to green, and a red MazdaSpeed3 smashing through the doors. The video and car are frozen in mid air as the title announces "The Awesome Adventures Of Wild Chlld".

The MazdaSpeed3 is then seen burning off what looks like a 1991 Mazda 787B, which took the chequered flag at the Le Mans 24-hour endurance race and was the first victory ever for a rotary engined sports car. Not content with that, the 3 MPS starts driving around the city streets looking for trouble, tracked by a helicopter, it starts doing 360 spins, narrowly dodges a truck and eventually smashes through a trolley full of food.

The funniest part of the video is where an opened top sports car is waiting at the lights and the 3 MPS goes by that fast, it causes the open top's doors to fly off, setting off the alram and the activating the airbags.

The video ends with a police chase, a road block and the MPS taking off over the awaiting police squad.
